Sóller is a charming town in the Tramuntana mountains, known for its traditional architecture, lively square, and orange groves. Its historic tram connects the town with Port de Sóller, offering a scenic ride.
Sóller sits in a fertile valley of orange and lemon groves on the Tramuntana side of the island, ringed by mountains and connected to the coast by a 100-year-old wooden tram. The town centre is full of Modernista architecture — its Sant Bartomeu church features a façade designed by a student of Gaudí. The transfer from Palma Airport takes about 40 minutes.
Plaça Constitució is the heart of town: cafés, the Saturday morning market, and the terminus of the vintage Palma–Sóller train (running since 1912 — a tourist attraction in its own right). From the same square, the open-sided wooden tram trundles down to Port de Sóller, a 30-minute scenic ride through orange groves. The valley is also a base for hiking — trails lead up to the village of Fornalutx and the Mirador de Ses Barques.
The road to Sóller passes through the Coll de Sóller tunnel; the older mountain pass is scenic but slow. A Janer-Bus private transfer takes the most efficient route for the time of day, fixed price, with luggage assistance and live flight tracking.
